- An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Property Paralegal with approximately 5 years of experience, to join a successful privately owned property investment and management group based in the Sydney CBD.
- The organisation owns and manages a diverse portfolio of commercial office buildings and retail assets across NSW.
- Working directly with the Directors and senior property team, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day leasing and legal administration across the portfolio, while also gaining exposure to property acquisitions, disposals and broader commercial matters.
- This is a broad in-house property role suited to an experienced property paralegal who enjoys taking ownership of matters and working closely with senior decision-makers.
The Role
You will act as the key internal contact for leasing documentation and property legal administration across the portfolio.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing commercial and retail leasing matters from instruction through to execution.
- Preparing, reviewing and coordinating leases, agreements for lease, deeds of variation, assignments, surrenders, licence agreements and incentive deeds.
- Coordinating lease execution and registration and maintaining lease registers, critical dates, renewals, options and expiries.
- Liaising directly with tenants, leasing agents, property managers and external solicitors.
- Assisting with property acquisitions and disposals, including due diligence and transaction documentation.
- Undertaking title, ASIC, PPSR and property searches and assisting with settlements and PEXA matters.
- Maintaining legal records, bank guarantees, insurance certificates, security documentation, templates and precedents.
- Supporting the Directors and broader business with legal administration, governance, compliance and property-related matters.
About You
You will ideally have:
- A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD).
- Approximately 5+ years’ experience in property law, commercial leasing or a property paralegal position.
- Strong experience with commercial and/or retail leasing documentation.
- Experience gained within a property owner, developer, commercial real estate organisation or property-focused law firm.
- A good understanding of commercial and retail leasing practices.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to independently manage multiple matters and deadlines.
- Excellent written communication, attention to detail and stakeholder management skills.
- Property transaction, due diligence and PEXA experience would be advantageous.
The Opportunity
- This is an opportunity to move into a broad in-house property position where you will work closely with the owners and senior leadership rather than being limited to a narrow legal support function.
- You will gain exposure to a substantial commercial and retail property portfolio, with involvement across leasing, acquisitions, disposals, transactions, compliance and legal administration.
- The organisation offers a collaborative and supportive environment, considerable autonomy and the opportunity to play an important role within a successful privately owned property group.
