  • This is a senior, hands-on tax leadership role responsible for managing all tax matters for a private investment group with a complex, multi-entity and cross-border structure.
  • The role combines technical depth and strategic influence, covering tax accounting, compliance and forward-looking tax planning, while also providing oversight to a small finance team (locally and offshore) and working closely with external mid-tier advisors.
  • While there is management oversight, it requires a Senior Tax Manager who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves and doing the work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all tax affairs of the group, domestically and internationally.
  • Lead strategic tax planning and forward-looking tax strategy for the group
  • Prepare detailed tax working papers and tax returns, including family superannuation funds
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with all relevant accounting standards, corporate regulations and Australian tax legislation, and monitor legislative changes impacting the group
  • Support tax structuring for the group generally and for key transactions
  • Prepare detailed step-by-step papers for all material transactions and funding arrangements, including:
  • Liaise closely with external tax advisors, auditors and other professional advisors
  • Continuously improve tax governance, systems and processes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • CA or CPA qualified
  • 8+ years’ experience in tax accounting, tax compliance and/or tax structuring
  • Strong experience with trusts, intercompany structures and private groups
  • Exposure to cross-border investments and offshore structures is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience managing tax planning and structuring for complex groups and transactions
  • Comfortable working in a private or family office environment with multiple entities and competing priorities
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero and Excel (essential)
  • Experience working with offshore teams is highly regarded

Key Attributes

  • Exceptionally high attention to detail with a strong ownership mindset
  • Hands-on, proactive and accountable, with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Clear and confident communicator, capable of working effectively with offshore teams and external advisors
  • Demonstrates discretion, professionalism and integrity when handling sensitive financial information
  • Comfortable operating in a nimble, fast-moving private environment where trust and judgment are critical
